Dr Blažo Lalević, Assistant Professor (MICROBECOL) Laboratory for microbiological research in Department of Environmental Biology, Hasselt University, Department of Environmental Biology, from 20th to 25th May, 2016. The host of visit was Dr. Panagiotis Gkorezis. The aim of visit was to inform researchers from Laboratory for microbiological research in Department of Environmental Biology about AREA activity, aiming to increase AREA networking and finding partners for future collaboration.
Dr Ilinka Pećinar and Dragana Rančić, Assistant Professors (FUNCROPS) visited Raman Imaging Group at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland, from 18th to 28th May 2016. The host of this visit was prof. dr Malgorzata Baranska, and the aim of the visit was training focuses on research of in situ analysis of bioactive plant compounds by means of spectroscopic methods, particularly FT Raman technique.
Dr Božidar Rašković, Assistant Professor (AQUACARP group) had a short training in Raman spectroscopy methods at Faculty of Chemistry, Jagiellonian University, based in Kraków, Poland, from 18th to 28th May 2016. The aim of the visit was to gain new and advanced knowledge in FT-Raman spectrometry, mapping of animal cells at dispersive micro-Raman spectrometer, as well as in chemometry methods. Host of the visit was Prof. Dr. Malgorzata Baranska.
PhD student Mira Vojvodić (MICRODIAG group) From May 19th to May 27th 2016, completed the training in DNA-based technologies. The training was organized at Campus du végétal UMR 1345 Institut de Recherche en Horticulture et Semences IRHS in Angers, France. Supervision was given by Dr. Valerie Le Clerc, which has experience in carrot genetic diversity and carrot resistance to Alternaria dauci leaf blight.
Assistant Professor Dragana Božićić (WEEDSCI) has finished additional training in DNA-based technologies. The training was organized at School of Agriculture, Policy and Development, University of Reading, Reading, UK from 20th May to 30th May 2016, under the supervision of Edward Venison (Research Technician). The aim of this training was to learn Genemapper software application in molecular data analysis, mainly related to assessment of genetic diversity of weed species.
Assistant professor Ivan Šoštarić (BIODIV) finished advanced training in DNA-based technologies. The training took place at the Department of Seed Science and Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Zagreb, Zagreb, Croatia, from 15-25 May, 2016, under the supervision of Prof. Zlatko Šatović. The aim of the training was to further develop skills in a range of DNA marker techniques, such as SSR (simple sequence repeats) method.
From April 17th to May 21th 2016, PhD student Žaklina Pavlović, (PHYTOBAC group). ) completed the training at The National Research Council (CNR), Institute for Sustainable Plant Protection (IPSP) in Bari, Italy. Supervision was given by Dr. Maria Saponari, which has experience on invasive plant pathogens of woody crops (olive and citrus).
Jovana Vunduk ( FOODBIOTECHNOLOGY group) , PhD student and research assistant, completed the training in antibiofilm testing. The training took place at the Ibiotechnical Faculty, University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), from 4th May to 18th May 2016, under the supervision of Professor Sonja Smole-Možina. Aim of the training was to obtain the knowledge and skills necessary for the evaluation of different biofilm-connected abilities of mushrooms extracts (anti-adhesion and antibiofilm-foration).
From 18th until 21st May 2016, Professor Biljana Vucelić – Radović (FOODBIOCHEM group) visited Institute of Plant Biology and Biotechnology, Faculty of Biotechnology and Horticulture, University of Agriculture in Krakow. The aim of the visit was fact-finding in the area of Raman microspectroscopy in food biochemistry and also, to make a plan for trainings in the area of application of Raman microspectroscopy in plant, fish and food sciences.
