Hosting EU experts

Seven AREA teams (PLANTPHYS, FRUITBREED, AQUACARP, PHYTOBAC, MICRODIAG, FOODBIOCEM and FOODTECH) invited experts of EU hosting institutions during the period from 1 to 7 June 2014, when The AREA international conference: “EU project collaborations - challenge for research improvement in agriculture“ was held at the Faculty of Agriculture. PLANTPHYS hosted Dr Nadia Bertin from INRA, Avignon, France (1-4 June); FRUITBREED hosted Dr Paul Hadley from Centre for Horticulture, School of Agriculture, Policy and Development, University of Reading, Reading, UK (1-3 June); AQUACARP hosted Postdoctoral Researcher Marijana Todorčević from Nofima Marine, AAs, Norway (1-5 June); PHYTOBAC hosted Dr Jaap Janse from Department of Laboratory Methods and Diagnostics, The Dutch General Inspection Service (NAK), Emmeloord, The Netherlands (1-7 June); MICRODIAG hosted Prof. Donato Gallitelli from Dipartimento di Scienze del Suolo della Pianta e degli Alimenti, Università degli Studi di Bari Aldo Moro, Bari, Italy (1-4 June); FOODBIOCHEM and FOODTECH teams hosted Prof. Elena Maestri from Department of Life Sciences, University of Parma, Italy. The aim of the visits was to discuss AREA Project activities, implementation of new techniques, to plan all necessary steps for the good organizing of the laboratory for molecular biology, provide help about protocols and chemicals needed for new techniques at the laboratory and to discuss possibilities of new experiments and giving expertise in some of the problems related to experimental design.
